First and foremost, AARP provides a large amount of information on their site about Medicare. They provide information about what Medicare is and what it may or may not cover. It also helps individuals understand the differences between Medicare plans so that a person can choose the right plans for themselves. Their site offers information regarding the Medicare enrollment periods and the Medicare rates as well. AARP also offers information about how to contact Medicare counselors if more information is needed or if a person has specific questions to his or her situation.    Medicare Supplement Insurance    One part of Medicare that has interested people lately is Supplemental Medicare Insurance. This coverage is also known as Medigap. Medigap essentially fills in some of the gaps in coverage that standard Medicare coverage may leave. It is purchased through private insurance companies so coverage and rules may vary somewhat from state to state, although one rule that does not change is that a person may purchase Medigap coverage within three months of his or her 65th birthday without having to fill out a medical questionnaire.
