Family and Group Health Insurance Plans
Author David Schneider | Nov 19,2007
There are two ways to buy health insurance coverage for families. The first way is to enroll in an individual family health insurance plan and the second way is to add family members onto your group health insurance plan offered by your employer. Both ways are viable options. However, not every one will be able to afford or qualify for both of these family insurance options.

Individual Family Health Insurance Coverage

As mentioned above, the first way to provide your family with health insurance coverage is to enroll each member in an individual health insurance plan. Many health insurance carriers have family plans that offer you a small discount when you enroll your entire family in the program. To qualify for these insurance plans, you just need to meet basic health fitness requirements and be able to pay for the policy that you select. This coverage option is a great option for people who are self employed, unemployed or who otherwise do not have access to group health insurance coverage.

Group Family Health Insurance Coverage

To save money on your family’s health insurance coverage, you need to take advantage of group health insurance plans whenever you can. Group health insurance plans offered by your employer offers you a discount on both your insurance and your family’s insurance. To enroll your family in your group health insurance plan you will need to talk with your company’s personnel or human resources department. Most likely, you will have to pay for additional people that you add to your health insurance policy. You may also be restricted in regards to when you can add people to your policy or if you can add people to your policy. There are two ways to buy health insurance coverage for families.
